MANCHESTER, N.H.- As we inch closer to the 2026-2027 school year, more than 100 teachers, principals and support staff gathered in the mill yard at Southern New Hampshire University this week as part of Manchester School District’s annual New Employee Orientation. The event is designed to help all employees hired within the last 12 months get to know the District on a deeper level, covering topics ranging from health insurance and benefits options to technology and student services. The event kicked off with an introduction of District office leadership and remarks from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Chmiel.
“The new school year presents so many opportunities,” said Chmiel. “We are the best district in the state and it’s because of educators like you. Your knowledge and creativity will help shape the leaders of tomorrow. Never lose sight of that.”
Leslie Whitney, the District’s executive director of teaching & learning said the event has become a tradition District leadership look forward to each year, many of whom recall their own Orientation years earlier when they began their careers in Manchester.
“Every great school community begins with a great school staff,” said Whitney, ”We are proud to welcome our newest members to the Manchester School District . We are committed to supporting, learning alongside, and growing as they begin this important journey.”
Throughout the two day event, staff were treated to free coffee from Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck, courtesy of SNHU and lunch provided by local restaurants and businesses, including:

Every new teacher was also presented with a box of new school supplies, lovingly donated and packed by the SNHU community.
